What we hold, what we promise, and how to get rid of it.

Everything the product holds, why, and for how long. If a row is not here, we do not hold it.

DataSourcePurposeRetention

No special-category data is collected on purpose. Reading speed in a second language is not health data. The DPA says plainly what this data is and is not.

What your manager sees

This page exists because the answer has to be checkable, not reassuring. It is linked from the team consent screen, from Today, from Progress and from the pricing page — and it is the same text in all four places.

An admin can see

  • Seat status: invited, active, inactive
  • Team and group medians, from checkpoints only
  • Aggregates for groups of five or more people
  • The share of seats that gained 20% or more

An admin can never see

  • Your daily readings, or your speed on any one text
  • Any text you pasted in yourself
  • Your name next to a number
  • Your gloss taps, translations used, or error marks
  • Whether you did a session today

Your seat ending does not delete your account or your record. If you leave the company, the account is yours and the chart comes with you.

Refund and cancellation

Cancelling
Two taps in Settings. Access runs to the end of the period you paid for. Nothing is deleted, and your record stays available on the free plan.
Refunds
14 days on yearly plans and on the program pass, no questions asked. Monthly plans are not refunded mid-period; they simply stop at the end of it. Statutory withdrawal rights are additional to this policy, never instead of it.
Regional prices
Prices follow local purchasing power. You always see your own currency, with tax included where required. Moving country changes your price at the next renewal, not mid-period.
Failed payments
Three attempts over ten days, with an email each time. After that the plan drops to free — it does not delete anything.
Teams
Seats are invoiced per period. Ending a seat stops the next invoice; it does not end the learner's account.

About the practice texts

They are generated
Practice passages are produced by language models, in the field you chose, fresh for each session. They are fiction: names, companies, ticket numbers and figures are invented, and nothing in them is professional, legal, financial or medical advice.
Some contain deliberate errors
From session 5 onward, roughly one text in three carries a planted error — a wrong number, a wrong date, a conclusion that contradicts its own reasoning. This is disclosed before it starts happening and revealed after every session that had one. It is the training, not a defect.
Reports never move your score
If you report a problem with a text, nothing about your result changes until a person confirms the report. Then the session is re-scored or set aside, and you are told which.
Your own texts
Text you paste into extra reading is shown to you and not stored, unless you tap Save. Shade and Listen send it to the server, process it and discard it. It is never used to train any model.
Trademarks
dub.mom is not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google or Microsoft. Their names appear only to describe the kind of text this program trains you to read.

Subprocessors

Public and dated. Team customers are notified 30 days before a subprocessor is added.

Accessibility

The target is WCAG 2.2 AA. The reading screen is the hard part, and these are the specific commitments:

  • Every session works with a keyboard alone. In the questions, 1–4 select and Enter confirms.
  • The phrase-broken layout is a visual aid only; the passage is one continuous text to a screen reader.
  • Nothing in a session moves, flashes or advances on its own. There is no timer on screen and no forced stop.
  • Colour is never the only signal: a hollow chart point is also labelled, a marked sentence is also flagged.
  • Screen-reader sessions are excluded from published norms, because the instrument is not calibrated for them — and that exclusion is invisible to the learner, who still gets their own chart.
  • prefers-reduced-motion removes every transition.

Something not working? [email protected] reaches a person, and we treat it as a bug, not feedback.

Cookies

One cookie for your session when you are signed in, and one local store on your device for your font choice, your language and an unfinished session. No advertising cookies, no third-party analytics on the app, and no consent banner — because there is nothing to consent to.
